Clarinet player and Spoleto Chamber Music Series regular Todd Palmer talks with Rachel Stewart about the history behind his one and only comission piece. Composer Ricky Ian Gordon wrote a 70-minute theatrical song cycle based on the story of Orpheus and Euridice. While the piece took several years to get very far off the shelf, it has since blossomed into a masterwork by one of the up-and-coming classical contemporary composers of the 21st century.
